Thank you so much for your review, Rosie. It was a fun day and we really enjoyed meeting you! Thanks, Rob and Arja
Purchased the half day experience for hubby and father-in-law. They had a great time, and are very happy with what they made. Thanks for a great experience Kowhai Forge.
Awesome to hear, thank you very much!
I'd give it 6 stars if I could. For anyone wanting to learn the ancient art of the Blacksmith or just have a fun day and go home with something you've made and a great story to tell, this experience is well worth it. Rob is always willing to pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience. His enthusiasm for the craft is contagious and the full day experience is honestly not enough for any avid fan of crafting glowing hot metal. I could have spent a week there. Arja's authentic, home cooking was phenomenal and really added to the whole experience. You can't learn on an empty stomach. I will definitely be going back to Kowhai Forge.
Thank you so much for this amazing feedback. We really appreciate it and we'd love to see you back!
Friendly, knowledgeable and excellent facilities. My dad and I went for the half day and loved it. Unlike anything else Ive done and got to take home our own bit of craftmanship. Id highly recommend it to anyone.
Thank you very much for your review, Gus. We enjoyed meeting you both and it is great to hear you both had a good time! Thanks, Rob and Arja
Hi, this is the second advanced tool making course Ive taken with Rob and this time I made a rounding hammer for my home forge. Under Rob's oversight and direction I made a great hammer. At the same time I got to pick his brains on the other projects going on. The hospitality was fantastic, with great food during the breaks. a 10/10 experience.
Thank you very much Jared. It was great to see you again!!

A great day out
Despite having had no experience of smithing before, I thought that I would sign up for this course to do something a bit different from the usual tourist activities. I really enjoyed my day at the forge. Rob was a really great teacher, explaining all the steps in the process and allowing me to be in charge of the more simple steps along the way. Arja was lovely too, preparing a delicious lunch and snack breaks. Bonus, I made a really great-looking knife!
